Yes, that's right, you can now develop apps for Barnes and Noble's Nook Color using the Corona SDK by Ansca Mobile. The Corona SDK was listed as one of the recommended development frameworks for the Nook Color. Adobe Air, Mono, PhoneGap, Unity 3D and of course the Android SDK rounded out the recommended development frameworks. Since I have a book already in production on the Corona SDK, this got my blood pumping (and encouraged me to crank out a few more pages today). While I haven't had the opportunity to play with the Nook Color yet (there isn't a Barnes and Noble within 150 miles of where I currently live.. very sad), it will be on my 'must see and play with' list for my next outing. Stay tuned: I'll update this blog as I learn more about developing apps for the Nook. Update: It's now 4 months later, and I have to say that I'm less than impressed with B&N developer program. The forums or full of questions with no replies and lots of posts about just rooting the Nook Color and making it a full Android device. Looks like a lot of frustration from the developer community. I have played with the Nook Color in the B&N store. It does not use a capacitive touch screen, so it is limited to single touch response. I found it slow and quickly became frustrated with the lack of response on the device. While the price is good, I think I would rather spend my money on an Asus Transformer for just another $60. That's my 2-cents worth.
